Overview
This 7-day safari will create unforgettable experiences as you travel to different destinations for different activities. It will lead you to the shadows of mountain Elgon and finally to its peak. During Mount Elgon’s adventure, a lot of amazing things will be recorded such as beautiful birds, butterflies, tree species, flowers, hospitable people, and many others. In other words, the hike takes four full days both ascending and descending to the starting point.
Enjoy the safari as it takes you to hike Sipi Falls which is another interesting activity that leaves a smile on your face and creates memorable moments too. This seven days safari starts in Entebbe with a pickup, takes you to Jinja town for the city tour to Kapchorwa for an activity, connects to Kapkwai for Mount Elgon hiking then finally a drop off to Entebbe or Kampala depending on your choice.
Detailed information
Day 1. Transfer from Entebbe to Mbale town
Meet our well-behaved driver guide from the agreed location for briefing about the safari then immediately start your journey to Mbale town. You will have a stopover in Jinja town for lunch en route and have a short city tour before continuing. After proceeding and checking in with the booked depending on the arrival time you can opt to do an evening activity or relax and wait for dinner.
Day 2. Depart to Kapchorwa, hike Sipi Falls
On day 2 wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast then drive to Kapchorwa for the Sipi Falls experience.
Receive a briefing from the guide about the activity after he/she leads for the great adventure hiking Sipi Water Falls. The walk creates unforgettable memories as you come across different beautiful creatures like bird species, and some primates, and as soon as get to the top of the Falls feel the great breath and a wonderful view.
Move back to the lodge for lunch then after relax as you stretch for the long hike the next day or opt to do a coffee tour experience and pound the roasted coffee beans or fly fishing depending on your choice.
Day 3. Transfer to Mount Elgon, Kapkwai forest conservation center
Kapkwai Forest Conservation Center is a protected area under the management of the Uganda Wildlife Authority UWA and it is 12 kilometers from Sipi town.
Therefore, enjoy your delicious breakfast in the morning then drive directly to the Kapkwai offices to meet your guide for briefing.
Immediately after briefing you will set off to the bottoms of the mountains and start your hiking adventure. The hiking takes four days both ascending and descending therefore your adventure will include overnight camping.
You will come across many beautiful things during hiking such as beautiful birds, butterflies, green vegetation, stunning views as you reach the summit, and many others. Furthermore, hikers for the best experience can ascend using the Sipi trail and descend using the Salsa trail.
Day 4-6. Hike to the peak and descend.
Mountain Elgon is one of the most visited mountains in Uganda for hiking lovers well known as the world’s largest caldera. Wagagai Peak is its highest point measuring 4,321 meters above sea level.
Therefore on your day four after having your breakfast you will proceed with the hike up to the top of the mountain ( wagagai peak area) for refreshment, enjoy the stunning view, take photos and record videos for memories while back home. Before getting to the top you will meet breaks where you will relax and enjoy your meals.
After descending to the starting point at Kapkwai forest conservation center meet your safari car with an overnight camping on your way back. Take a chance to spot some creatures you might have missed while ascending to the top. On day 6 arrive at the conservation center and drive back to the lodge and relax.
Day 7. Drive back to Entebbe Kampala.
After such an amazing adventure, on this day after enjoying your delicious breakfast jump into your safari car a gain and get back on your journey to Entebbe Kampala. You will have lunch en route in Jinja town as you enjoy a great view of the Nile. Proceed with the journey after lunch be dropped at the agreed location and fly back home.
