Overview
Take part in this 4 days golden monkey and gorilla trekking in Mgahinga National Park where you get to discover about these unique primates. Each experience will reward you with an hour face to face-to-face interaction while taking photos. There are other activities you will do such as the nature walk for the Batwa cultural trail, experiment at the equator, and many more others.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1. Drive to Mgahinga National Park
Be greeted and welcomed by the assigned driver guide who will take you through a quick briefing about this amazing tour to Mgahinga National Park. This park is located in far southwestern Uganda and it’s the smallest national park in the pearl of Africa.
The journey is amazing since it involves passing through the plantations, and cattle farms, and then the equator point will not be missed on this day. Arrive and head to the booked lodge.
Day 2. Gorilla trekking and Batwa trails
Arise as early as possible in the morning, have your well-prepared breakfast then later drive to the Park offices.
The ranger guide will warmly welcome you and brief you about the forest including all the Does and Don’ts then move for the search of the Gorillas. Gorillas share 96% DNA of human therefore, having a chance to trek a Gorilla family
watch and learn how close these apes are to humans. Record videos and take photos for remembrance while back home then after retreat to the starting point to meet your safari driver guide and drive back to the lodge for lunch.
Drive for the Batwa trail experience in the afternoon and take a chance to use the trails that the Batwa people also known as the pygmies used during the time they were still using the jungle as their home before conservation. You will record a number of wildlife species which include monkeys, beautiful bird species, butterflies, and many others. At the end of the experience drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3. Golden monkey trekking, an optional activity
Golden monkeys are one of the endemic and rare species that Mgahinga Gorilla National Park harbors and it is well believed that they spend most of their time in the lower parts of the bamboo.
Therefore after your breakfast drive to the Park offices to meet the ranger guide to lead you for trekking. These primates live in large groups of about 25 to 30 individuals and having a chance to trek any group you will spend one hour with them enjoying taking photos as well as recording videos.
After drive back to the lodge for lunch with an optional activity in the afternoon or relax.
Day 4. Departure.
Have your early heavy breakfast on day 4 of your safari then after check out with the lodge and drive heading back to Kampala. Have a stopover at Kayabwe Equator for lunch en route, taking photos, stunning view then later proceed with the drive to Kampala. Your safari driver guide will drop you off at the agreed location and mark it the end of your 4 day safari in Uganda.
