Overview
This tour is dedicated to tourists who love Hiking and exploring the history of Dian Fossey in her time while in Volcanoes National Park. The tour will begin in Kigali Rwanda with a short city tour and then proceed to Volcanoes National Park home to mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. On the second day, hike the Dian Fossey trail to the graveyard as you learn about the conservation practices. Have an optional visit to Ibyiwachu cultural village and on the last day head back to Kigali with a city tour.
Detailed Itinerary
Day1. Transfer to Volcanoes National Park from Kigali after a pickup
The guide driver of our company will pick you up from the airport and then transfer you to Volcanoes National Park. This will be after an optional city tour where places like the art and gallery center, Kimironko market, genocide memorial grounds, and more. The journey to this park will take about a 3-hours’ drive and arrive at the lodge for dinner.
Day2. Dian Fossey Hike
Have an early breakfast which will be followed by a briefing at the park offices. Begin the hike with the help of the park guide who will tell you about the story of Dian Fossey a female researcher and primatologist who saved many mountain gorillas. On this trail, have a chance to spot different attractions like birds, vegetation, and even mountain gorillas. The hike will take you to her graveyard and reflect her legacy in conservation. Return to the lodge for lunch which will be followed by optional activities like visiting the community of Ibyiwachu village.
Day3. Head back to Kigali city
Head back to Kigali and take part in the city tour where notable places like the art and gallery centers, museums, and religious sites can be visited. Be dropped at the airport and this will be the end of the safari
